When it comes to rooting devices, for the most part, they are known as being very easy to do. It’s not always the case though, and sometimes gaining root access to a particular device can take what seems like an eternity. The Galaxy Tab 2.70 being a prime example of this. The following is a step by step guide on how to Root Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 GT-P3110 On Android 4.0.3 ICS
Step 1. Go and download the Heimdall zip file from here and then extract the file. You can extract the file by using something like WinRAR or 7-zip take your pick.
Step 2. Next you have to boot the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 into download mode. If you’re not sure how to do this turn the device off and boot the device back up while holding the Volume Down button.
Step 3. Wait until you see the following phrase Download Mode Do Not Turn Off Target. When you see this message appear you need to connect your phone to the computer via the USB cable.
Step 4. Once your phone is connected download these two files gt-p3110.pit boot-bjr.img.
Step 5. Now go to your command prompt (using Windows Run>CMD or just type CMD into the newer Windows text box after clicking start.)
Step 6. Inside the command you have to find the file you got in step 1. Once found then type this into the command line adb reboot download
Step 7. Now open the Heimdall-frontend. When inside click on the flash tab and then load this attached file (gt-p3110.pit).
Step 8. In the partition details area select the KERNEL option followed by clicking add.
Step 9. Now select Browse and choose this boot-bjr.img followed by clicking Start.
Step 10. The Tablet will now reboot. When it boots back up add these followed commands into the command prompt as shown.
adb shell
./su
./gtab2-root.sh
