iOS like any other software can have its complications at times. It’s not uncommon for it to freeze up or slow down considerably. For these moments you want to force a reboot of the operating system. The following guide will teach you how to force reboot on all iOS software including iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
Please Note: If using a Jailbroken device all you need to do is go and get yourself SB Settings. The Sb Settings will give you options to Shut Down, Reboot or restart the Springboard. Also available to Jailbroken devices is a thing known as RemoveBG which will remove any unwanted background processes causing the trouble in one touch.
Those of you with standard devices please continue reading:
Before we start, doing this should be a last resort option. if you havent tried simply forcing a quit to the frozen application first, try this before continuing. Now with all that out of the way here is How to Force Reboot for iPhone iPad and iPod touch.
Rebooting your iOS device normally:
If you have a completely unresponsive iOS device you can hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Red Slider appears. Now slide it across. (Be careful to pay attention and do what the guide says here to avoid things you don’t want to slip into like Recovery Mode.)
The iOS device will now turn off. To boot it back up you can just press the Sleep/Wake button again for a few seconds.
Rebooting your iOS Device Manually:
Sometimes the iOS device can just be completely jammed up and frozen and nothing works. For these moments you need to hold down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button simultaneously for the device to reboot itself for you. (Be careful to pay attention and do what the guide says here to avoid things you don’t want to slip into like Recovery Mode.)
If you looking to force close an app that’s unresponsive there’s two things you can do:
The first thing is for any device that is new enough to have Multitasking software. For these devices open up the task and then hit the Home button twice. Now press on top of the app you want to close. Once it starts rocking a red icon will appear. Press this to delete the process temporarily.
For older devices press the Sleep/Wake button on the top of the device. Once the red slider appears don’t press it this time. Instead now let go of the Sleep/Wake button. Then hold down the Home button and the app will be gone.
That’s it! Congratulations, you just learnt how to Force Reboot and get out of trouble on iPhone iPad and iPod Touch.
